About the Product

SuperStructuring decking plugs are precision-cut 1/4" cylinders made from real composite decking material — the same material as the brand and color of your deck. They drop into pre-drilled screw holes and blend in so well that the screws disappear.

We don't paint plastic to look like wood. We cut actual decking material into plugs — the same brand and color as your deck. The color, grain, and texture match because they're the same material.

Every plug is 1/4" (0.25") in diameter. This matches the standard pilot hole size used by every major composite-deck fastening system — countersink screw + plug pairs, hidden-clip stair noses, and standard 1/4-inch face-screw plugs.

If your fastening system uses a different hole size, the plug will not fit. Check the head dimensions of the screw or fastener you're using before ordering.

Most composite-deck fastening systems leave a visible 1/4" recess after the screw is driven. Our plugs fit that recess with a friction press fit (no glue required for a tight hole, though a small dot of construction adhesive is fine for outdoor exposure). The top of the plug sits flush with the deck surface and shares the board's color, grain, and matte/textured finish.

Compatibility & Color Matching

Browse the homepage or use the search bar (top of every page) to see every brand and color we currently stock. The catalog is the authoritative answer — and it grows regularly.

If your deck's manufacturer isn't in the catalog yet, email us with the brand and color name. We expand the lineup based on real demand and may already have a match incoming.

The cleanest source is the original packaging or invoice from when your deck was installed — it lists the brand, collection, and color name. If you no longer have that, check the underside of an unweathered board where the manufacturer often stamps the color name.

If you're shopping by photo and aren't sure, send a clear photo to support@superstructuring.com. We'll match it against our 65-color reference set.

Composite decking is designed to resist UV fade, but every brand sees a small color shift in the first 12–18 months after install. Our plugs are cut from current-production material, so they'll match a 6-month-old deck almost perfectly and a 5-year-old deck very well. Heavily weathered decks may show a subtle difference in shade — usually unnoticeable from standing distance, sometimes visible up close in direct sun.

Installation

Press the plug straight into the hole until it sits flush with the deck surface. A rubber mallet or your palm is enough — the plug is slightly oversized so it grips the hole walls. For long-term outdoor exposure, add a small dot of exterior-grade construction adhesive (e.g., Loctite PL Premium) to the bottom of the plug before pressing.

That's it. No drilling, no countersinking, no router. If the plug is too tight, lightly sand the sides; if too loose, your hole may be larger than 1/4" and you'll want adhesive.

The minimum: nothing. Just push the plugs in by hand or tap with your palm.

For larger jobs: a rubber mallet (faster), construction adhesive (longevity), and a small flush-cut saw or sandpaper if any plug ends up sitting slightly proud.

No. Adhesive is optional and we leave the call to you. Friction is enough for the plug to stay seated; adhesive helps when the deck sees freeze/thaw cycles, foot traffic right over the plug, or boat-dock environments.

Coverage & Quantity

Rule of thumb for composite decks fastened with a countersink screw system: about 4 plugs per square foot on a 12"-on-center joist layout. A 100-pack covers roughly 25 sq ft.

For face-screwed boards (every screw visible) you'll use more; for hidden-clip systems you'll only need plugs around the perimeter trim and stair noses where face screws are required.

Simplicity. We sell one pack size per color so the catalog is easy to navigate and your shipping is predictable. If you need 300, order three packs — there's no per-color discount yet, but free shipping covers the cost difference vs. a multi-pack pricing tier.

If you'd benefit from a 250- or 500-pack tier, tell us. The catalog evolves with demand data.
